Starting with a small landscaping firm in 1999, he became a volunteer at the Woodland Park Zoo in 2000 and was hired full time as a tropical horticulturist in 2001. He was responsible for maintaining the tropical exhibits and recreating realistic and accurate habitats for the enjoyment of both the inhabitants and guests alike.In 2014, he transitioned to the Amazon Spheres project and was hired to manage the greenhouses and staff that were responsible for collecting and growing the material for the project.
